Ursprung
— Synopsis
A poem written after a meditation in the pool became 108 circles on a 15 × 12 m wall.
In early 2022, Miles Blau won the Kunst und Bau (art in architecture) competition for the wall of the Neubad in Lucerne — a wall previously designed by Hans Erni.
After a two-hour meditation in the indoor pool, accompanied by the gentle resonance of the water, a poem emerged about life, water and culture. It became the core of the winning design: 108 circles in 108 hand-mixed blue-green tones representing URSPRUNG (origin) — a poetic reflection on the origin of life and the universal connection between people and nature.
True to the Neubad's character as a cultural venue and meeting place, the work was painted collectively with 27 volunteers who responded to an open call on social media and by email. The participatory process realised the artistic vision and strengthened a sense of community. The mural was inaugurated in spring 2022 with music by the band Subaqua.
